The laboratory occupies a 15,100 SF lease space in the Texas Medical Center’s McGovern Campus, previously a train bay. The facility’s primary function is the analysis of DNA evidence used in Harris County criminal court cases. It is divided into two separate and distinct areas: administrative and non-laboratory based activities, and laboratory and laboratory based activities. Each area is then subdivided into specialized activity zones based on specific workflows.
The building received a Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Construction from the Texas Building Branch of the Associated General Contractors, and is a featured tour at the 2016 Laboratory Design Conference.
